What is OTOCALM

OTOCALM is an otic (ear) solution used for the symptomatic relief of ear pain (otalgia) associated with inflammation or infection. It contains two active ingredients:

• Chlorbutol: An antiseptic and mild local anesthetic with preservative properties.
• Phenazone (Antipyrine): An analgesic and anti-inflammatory agent that helps relieve pain and reduce inflammation in the ear.

This medication is typically used in cases of otitis externa (inflammation of the external ear canal) or otitis media (middle ear infection), especially when there is no perforation of the tympanic membrane (eardrum).

How to use OTOCALM

Follow your doctor’s or pharmacist’s instructions for the correct use. Here are the general usage guidelines:

• Ensure hands are clean before application.
• Warm the bottle slightly by holding it in your hands for a few minutes before use (to avoid dizziness).
• Tilt the head to the side or lie down with the affected ear facing up.
• Instill the prescribed number of drops into the ear canal (usually 3–5 drops).
• Remain in position for several minutes to ensure the drops stay in the canal.
• Repeat for the other ear if necessary.
• Do not insert cotton swabs or objects into the ear unless advised.

Use the drops as often as prescribed, typically 2–4 times daily, and complete the course even if symptoms improve earlier.
